Like I mentioned in my previous post, we are celebrating Diwali in India this Sunday. The time of the year when we light diyas (earthen lamps) outside our home, hang pretty lamps and also pray to Goddess Lakshmi (Goddess of wealth) for her blessings. One of the prettiest festivals in India for sure.

Here are some pictures taken during my shopping trip to Dadar market yesterday. The mood was visibly festive and so cheerful.. quite unlike Bombay where people are always just too busy to look up and acknowledge others. People looked happy, willing to smile for the camera or even stop and wait while I took their photographs.

Dadar Market

Dadar market during Diwali

Almost all of these lamps seen in the pictures are made at home by the shopkeepers and their families. And as you can see, the kids are more than happy to lend a helping hand to grown ups.

Seen in Dadar, Mumbai.

If you are in Bombay during Diwali, I highly recommend you visit the Dadar market.

Wish you a very happy Diwali and brighter times ahead. Hope you enjoyed the post.
